African Business Leaders Urged to Lead with Conviction and Integrity at Inaugural Boateng Business Conference

A New Vision for African Enterprise

The inaugural Boateng Business Conference concluded after three days of dynamic and thought-provoking dialogue on the future of business in Africa. Held under the theme “The Future of Business: Creating Businesses with Conviction, Innovation and Responsible Practices,” the event took place at Heritage Christian University and set a bold new standard for how African enterprises can and should operate in the 21st century.

Organized in honor of Mr. Douglas Akuamoah Boateng, a distinguished entrepreneur and philanthropist, the conference convened a strong coalition of voices from across the public and private sectors. Attendees included representatives from the Ghana Revenue Authority, the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana, the Ghana Chamber of Commerce, the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Ghana Exim Bank, and AfriExim Bank, among others.

Purpose Over Profit: A Call to Action

The core of the conference was a compelling message: business must be more than a profit engine; it must be a force for good. In his keynote address, Mr. Douglas Akuamoah Boateng challenged entrepreneurs and corporate leaders to reframe their missions.

“Businesses should not merely be profit-driven enterprises, but purpose-driven missions anchored in conviction and a deep commitment to serving humanity,” he declared.

He urged the next generation of African business leaders to embed integrity, empathy, and long-term thinking into every facet of their operations. According to Mr. Boateng, sustainable success is not achieved through short-term gains, but through ethical practices, environmental stewardship, and inclusive economic participation.

“Responsible business is not a constraint on growth, but a catalyst for enduring impact.” he emphasized.

The Roundtable

One of the conference’s most impactful sessions was a roundtable discussion offering actionable insights on real-world business challenges from tax compliance to efficient filing processes and operational innovation. Moderated by Kafui Dey, a prominent Ghanaian media personality, and Robert Nii Arday Clegg, Esq., a respected legal practitioner, the conversation bridged policy and practice, giving attendees concrete tools to implement responsible strategies in their organizations.

Tax Compliance as a Foundation of Trust

The Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Mr. Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the critical role of tax compliance in building transparent and trustworthy business ecosystems and serving as a foundation of trust. His remarks highlighted how fiscal responsibility and ethical governance go hand-in-hand in fostering investor confidence and national development.

He commended the organizers of the conference, labelling it as timely and necessary for Africa’s economic future.

The Boateng Business Conference laid a strong foundation and set a high bar for future conversations on what it truly means to build businesses that matter.
